THIS IS BLACK 2.0
DECEMBER 14 2020 - JANUARY 17 2021
An Interactive Online Exhibition in response to the injustices faced by Black people around the world. Directed by Abigail Sewell.
2020 was a monumental year for many reasons. In some ways it has felt like the voices of Black people are finally being heard. Although society is taking crucial steps in the right direction, it is a mere dent in the structures we must dismantle.
This Is Black 2.0 was created to put Black voices and artists at the heart of the conversation. Artists were encouraged to bring their rage, their joy and their hope to this series of commissions and curations.
Audiences explored photography by HYPEMARI, poetry by Rakaya Fetuga, writing by Thara Popoola and Chanté Joseph, plus films by Otis Dominique, Abigail Sewell & Chioma C Ezeh and Justina Kehinde & Munotida Chinyanga. The digital experience was underscored with sound design by Xana. The event was described as "a triumph", "inspiring" and "a call to action."
